Essential Safety Tips for Your Hot Tub

Publication date : Tuesday, May 6th, 2014

Soaking in a hot tub can provide a number of health benefits. However, if you use your hot tub incorrectly, you could be putting yourself or your family in danger. To reduce risk, make sure children are always well supervised. In addition it is recommended that children less than five years of age use the hot tub at lower temperatures as children are sensitive to hot water. If you are pregnant do not use the hot tub unless you have talked to your doctor about hot tub use. Do not use the hot tub if it has a strong chemical smell, or if the temperature exceeds 104°F. Check and adjust the water chemistry of the hot tub once per week so that it is safe to use. It is preferred that the hot tub equipment always be in circulation mode and thus always filtering. However, this is not the design of all tubs. The main concerns is having enough circulation for proper filtration and sanitation. Your hot tub sides should be smooth, rather than sticky or slippery.

If you have a hot tub and you want to make sure that the water chemicals are properly balanced, or if you have questions about how long your filtration mode should be running, contact Paradise Pools and Spas.
